Sunburning? Or something else?

Are these spots and marks on my golden sedum sunburning? I keep Apollo right up by a southeast facing window (northern hemisphere) so I figured sunburning is most likely, but I’ve never taken care of a plant before so idk. Could anything else be wrong? #GoldenSedum

Try checking with a magnifying glass if the spots are in the plant or on it. If it’s in the plant they’re just freckles or sunburn. If they’re on the plant it’s some kind of bug or fungus
Ohh, from what I can tell they are in the plant not on the surface. That’s really helpful thank you! Glad it’s not a pest 😅
it looks like edema. sometimes that causes that sort of freckling. severe dehydration can do it as well but these plants are verrryyyyyyyy turgid and theres bumps/cracks that also look to be from edema so i think thats more likely. unless they were there when you bought it and havent changed at all.. then it might be old dehydration freckles 🤷 regardless, id recommend repotting it into a mix of 50/50 succulent soil and perlite/pumice. nursery potting mixes generally arent great for indoor use. water it when the leaves start getting thin and wrinkled, and make sure the soil dries out within 3 or 4 days of watering. if it takes longer than that you need to repot again with extra perlite/pumice :)
@HotKanna92 strangely enough a cactus is a succulent and in the cactus world this is called rust and this is a fungal infection due to too much moisture 🤷🏻‍♂️ but I know nothing. I kill succulents like it’s my job or something 😭😂 dragon fruit cactus is still going strong though and all the succulents well they just keep dropping leaves and make a new ones because they don’t like love at all lol 😂
Thank you! I will try that and change up my watering schedule!
@OhGollyItsJolly it might be a light issue? a lot of succulents are reallyyyy needy when it comes to light and they tend to throw fits when they dont get enough 😭 i actually stopped using my grow lights for like a week a few months ago and a lot of my succulents started dropping leaves left and right, a couple even rotted because of it 😔
These were mine before I repotted into succulent soil. They were a Christmas gift, so they stayed inside in this soil for 5 months. No growth, barely drank water, no color. I moved them outside at the end of spring and they took off! Both in color and in growth.
No that means that are getting the right amount of sun when you see the darker edges in the succulent.
