philodendron selloum propagation ?
#SplitLeafPhilodendron
My FIL recently gave me this beautiful split leaf philodendron. Heβs had her for 4ish+ years I believe. She has these, chunky, bare nodes (?) shooting up. Would you be able to propagate with these somehow ? If so, how would you go about it ?
If not, what should I do with them ? Will they eventually start growing their own leaves ? Are they useless and should I get rid of them ? I have absolutely no experience with this species so this is my first time and I apologize for my ignorance π£

Those are just old growth points, basically forming a trunk at the base (common with mature split leaf philos). While you *can* cut them off and propagate them, personally I would just leave them be. Cover them and the exposed surrounding roots with fresh soil, OR if you were planning to repot soon (that would be my choice), plant it slightly deeper in the pot. That soil looks pretty dense, it would benefit from something a lot chunkier. Like potting soil mixed with perlite and either orchid bark or coco chunks (3 parts soil, 2 parts bark or coco chunks, 1 part perlite). Be careful not to cover them up too much, or keep them overly damp. They still need good airflow so they don't rot.
@stephonicle He did tell me that he last repotted her about two years ago so I was definitely planning to upgrade her soon !
