How long have you had it, is it in same pot you bought it in? It’s important because nurseries always put a rubber band around the roots of money trees and that HAS to be removed or it will kill the plant. Also, they plant most plants in a soil that holds too much water (most places don’t have a dedicated water person) so repotting in a very well draining soil and taking that rubber band off is crucial
I have had it for one or two weeks. It's from Costas Farms. Well draining soil and right sized plastic pot. Watering according to app schedule. Haven't removed it to check the roots. I will do that and place it back into its original state. I just took the band off (it was taped to the trunk, not the roots) and put it back in its original pot. The soil is moist. I take it. The rest of the leaves that have already started dying off will eventually fall off.
It’s very important it’s in a pot with drainage, and your soil is very chunky. Money trees do not like to sit in wet soil, they’re very susceptible to root rot. As for watering- I never go by the app- it might be telling you to water too soon. Only water if the top 2-3 inches are completely dry. Give it water so that it drains out the bottom, and don’t let it sit in a saucer. I have 2 money trees and I water every 10+ days (I live in Texas where it’s 100•+ every day, and they’re both outdoors.
@SillyPlantGirl so money tree plans need to be removed from the current pot their planted in? And I didn’t know any of that information and could never keep one alive. I love those trees. I think they’re beautiful. Thanks for all the advice.
