Bought this boyo today from Home Depot on sale for 8$! But idk how to best get him out of the nursery pot since I wanna size up to a 12 inch. I would rather not cut him out, bcs that would be awfully messy I think especially since I'm in a dorm room.

When the soil is all the way dry you should just be able to lightly squeeze the nursery pit and lift the plant right out.  Now if the roots are growing out the bottom, that won't be as easy.
