How do I trim back an orchid?

How far back should I cut the spike? All the blooms fell off a few days ago and I read it should be trimmed now but I’ve never done it before. #OrchidLovers

Cut the spike near the base, the orchid will thank you! It will have a lot of extra energy for leaves and roots.

Eventually a new spike will emerge. Here’s one emerging on one of mine.
