Brown spots on Chinese Money Plant
I went on vacation for a bit and had my mom watch my Chinese money plant for me about a week or so ago. Now I have it back and the leaves are browning and dropping:((( what happened and how can I fix it?? #ChineseMoneyPlant #helpneeded
@SesameSeeds777 thank you so much!!!
Noooo! Donβt water her more she looks severely overwatered. She may even have root rot that needs treated. She probably does be honest.
If you look and her roots and they are brown black or mushy she will need treated immediately if you need help with that just reach out to out and ask.
But I know itβs that, the brown spots look wet and mushy, the yellowing leaves are all caused by overwatering. These are semi succulent plants, that means they hold water in their leaves. They need to be completely dry before watering. They absolutely hate wet feet! Small pot, drainage, well draining soil are musts. I have around 10 of these and am always sharing. I started with one. They are very easy to over love β€οΈ

@SuperbRaspfern the brown spots arenβt actually mushy, theyβre dry. Does this still mean itβs over watered? I also do not see any root rot, the roots look brown
Im glad they are not mushy and roots are still good I still suspect overwatering because the leaves are yellowing and curling under. I think you plant is staying wet for too long especially if your profile is correct and there is not drainage. Water will just pool on the bottom and the plant canβt get the aeration it needs to the roots.
@SesameSeeds777 That is true very similar response just subtle differences. The color is the main indicator or overwatering. If is was under watering the leaves would be more green. Because they hold water in their leaves cells, most plants will let you know they have been overwatered by losing their deep green color and getting more yellow. I didnβt bring up droopiness because both circumstances can cause that.
@SesameSeeds777 Also forgot to add when you look at her Oasis the pot has no drainage which often leads to overwatering and a damp center area that never dries out. It will appear dry on the edges but will be quite moist internally.
One more thing it makes sense that those brown areas are now crispy since you got home you corrected the situation, so they are letting go of the water stored in the leaves. The once wet spot dry out when that happens. Itβs with continued overwatering that the remain mushy. Think of it like when you scratch yourself and bleed. Eventually that stops, your body forms a scab to heal itself. The same thing happens with plants they do heal themselves. Although the leaf will never again be perfect it is healing itself which is a really good sign. We get a scar they get brown spots or scars themselves.
