Please help my Orchid!

I recently saved this Orchid from the trash at work. I repotted it from its original small plastic container into a larger well draining pot with better gro special orchid potting mix. I moved the mix today to check the roots because I realized I didn't see any aerial roots. I found they aren't looking so good despite a new leaf recently emerging.
This was my first time repotting an orchid so I'm scared I messed it up. What should I do to save this little guy?! #helpneeded

I wouldn’t worry too much right now. The aerial roots were probably struggling before and you’re just now noticing. I’d trim back the dead roots and then see how it progress over the next month. How do the other root look?
@WhollyJade58 I haven’t checked yet- should I repot again and trim the roots? I’ve never trimmed roots before
I think repotting again too soon might be too stressful. In about a 1-2 months, if it looks like it might be struggling i would remove it from the soil, soak the roots in water for about 10-20 minutes then trim off any brown roots or if it feels mushy. Finally repot in some good orchid bark or orchid soil.
Adding directions to the trim and repotting, remember to desinfect the scissors you use with alcohol; also, use 3% hydrogen peroxide spray and disinfect your orchid's roots. Additionally, when you plant it, use a container that is just the right size for its rootsβ€”not something too large, as this will cause the plant stress. Since it is in growing season add phosphorus or basic fertilizer with a concentration 2-2-2. Also i would recomend a transparent container with holes to allow the orchid to breath better. Best wishes and please keep us updated.
@WhollyJade58 thank you so much for this great advice! Will doπŸ™πŸΌ
@TimelessDaisy79 thank you!!! This pot was a bit larger than the original tiny pot. Are there any fertilizer brand you recommend?!β™₯️
Not brands on specific just check the concentration 2-2-2 , I prefer liquids over solid fertilizer because you can spray the leaves with it and the orchids likes it. Better if you use a hair mist spray bottle for the fine drops but remember to always dry the crown πŸ‘‘ of the orchird because if you leave it wet for too long it can rot your plant. Best wishes ❀️
@TimelessDaisy79 thank you! I just purchased Miracle Gro’s 2-2-2 plant food mist for orchids! I will keep you posted on how it does. This should be great for my many orchid friendsπŸ’•
Good, you should see improvement in a week or two, please take pictures πŸ“Έ, good luck πŸ‘ and best wishes 😊
