Hi Alexa- hereβs some info I got off google. Using aloe vera gel for hair, including gel extracted from a short-leaved aloe plant (Aloe brevifolia), can potentially offer several benefits.
Here's why:
Soothing scalp issues: Aloe vera is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which can help soothe an itchy or irritated scalp and potentially address conditions like seborrheic dermatitis (similar to dandruff but with more severe symptoms).
Deep cleansing: Aloe vera effectively cleanses the hair shaft and removes excess sebum (oil), residue from hair products, and dead skin cells without stripping the hair of its natural moisture.
Strengthening and hydrating: Aloe vera contains vitamins (A, C, E, B12), minerals, and amino acids that are thought to contribute to healthy hair follicles and stronger hair strands, making them less prone to breakage. It also acts as a humectant, drawing moisture from the air to keep hair hydrated.
Potential for hair growth: While definitive scientific evidence is limited, some believe that aloe vera's ability to soothe scalp inflammation, cleanse follicles, and potentially improve blood circulation could indirectly support a healthy environment for hair growth.
How to use aloe vera on hair:
You can apply fresh aloe vera gel directly to your scalp and hair, massaging it in and leaving it on for a period (e.g., 30 minutes to an hour) before rinsing it out, or you can find hair products with aloe vera as an ingredient. Aloe brevifolia, also known as short-leaved aloe, is a species of aloe with compact leaves and soft spines. Its gel is often used for similar purposes as Aloe vera, though Aloe vera is the more commonly recognized species for its medicinal and cosmetic uses

Yes Aloe Brevifolia has the same medicinal properties as the normal aloe. I will note that all aloe does NOT. But yes yours does. It can help with dandruff, and itchiness. As well as strengthen the hair with the vitamins it contains. Overall it's quite beneficial.
If using it as a conditioner apply just a little bit. No rinse out needed.
If using as a healing mask wash it out in 30-minutes to 1 hour. It can get sticky otherwise.
My daughter and I use Aloe for everything. I honestly think it's amazing. I even have pieces frozen in my freezer. It is amazing for burns, itchiness, bug bites. Absolutely love the stuff! π©·
