Hi. I have a newly planted Christmas Palm outside. How of...
2ft to light, direct
8โ pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
@SuppleArnoseris
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for your question. While it can depend eg how your water, I usually provide a guide as an attachment. With palms it is more of a soak and dry approach so giving the plant a good soak (like a shower of rain) and then allowing it to dry out before the next watering
For a Christmas Palm, I have found not only some ideas on watering but also some general tips and care, both form Greg and other sources.
Hopefully this helps answer your question. All the best ๐

I have a similar plant and I use the standard 2x week watering schedule with sprinklers for Florida, just check the zone where your plant is located and dispense enough water to the base of your palm, keep in mind you need to adjust higher or lower output depending on the weather conditions outside. Please feel free to reach me if you have more questions. Good luck!
@Neatundertaker Thank you for the help! My palm was planted 2 weeks ago. Should I be watering it more often and if so, how often and how much water should I use to water it each time? Iโm asking because some of the ends are yellowing. I canโt tell if Iโm overwatering or underwateringโฆ
@Seymour Thank you!
@SuppleArnoseris due to the fact your palm was planted fairly recently, it could indicate a post planting shock, this palm to thrive requires a well drained soil with a fairly amount of little pebbles at the bottom for this purpose. In addition, could be overwatering, in that case cut the water until you see an improvement, I would recommend to remove the yellow branches to increase growth, I use 8-2-12 fertilizer for my palms, applying for spring, summer and fall, but I would hold it for now until recovery.
