Whenever you see browning on the leaf of your houseplant with a yellow halo, it’s a sign your plant has a Bacterial or fungus infection, called Bacterial leaf spot. Don’t panic, because plants are resilient, but don’t ignore what your plant telling you. 🙃 This disease is like a common cold that could develop into pneumonia. 🤧 So, quarantine this plant away from the other plants in your oasis. Remove the leaf, or leaves (using sterilized scissors) and spray the leaves with Neem Oil.
💧This disease is usually caused by Overwatering and poor air circulation. So, before watering your plant, poke your finger in the soil to determine if the top inch of the soil feels dry. The skin on finger is a very sensitive moisture meter and it works better than any moisture meter gadgets you can purchase in the store. It’s also free 🙂. This method will help you in the fall-winter when your tropical plant will start going dormant and will require less and less water.
💦 Do the pot its in have drainage❓ Without drainage, the excess stagnant water stays at the bottom of the pot, suffocating your plant’s roots, causing root rot, disease, pest infestation and the death of your plant. 😞 So, repot it in a pot with drainage holes and use fresh dry potting soil.
☀️ This tropical plant thrive in bright indirect light. But it will tolerate the low light from the North facing window but sometimes the soil stays wet too long and that will cause overwatering. Consider getting it a LED Grow light or move it to a east facing window.
