Cactus suddenly fell?

Hello! So I was having dinner when my cactus suddenly split(?). I'm unsure of the verb, but basically the top dropped from the bottom. It has not been watered in a bit (3 weeks), but up until then it was growing quite nicely. What is the cause/what should I do about it? Can I repot the pieces that fell? Thank you so much!

Hi Rocio welcome to Greg. Cactus need to be in a really good draining soil and draining pot. They need 6-8 hours of full sun to thrive. If you have him indoors in a pot with no drainage- there’s an issue there. The soil it is in looks super dry. Cacti don’t like wet soggy soil, but they need to have water, they store water in their paddles making it possible to tolerate drought. It’s possible yours hasn’t gotten enough water and dried out where the paddles connect and it fell off. I would take the fallen paddle and just lay it on the soil in same pot…roots should start to pop, and then just stick it down in the dirt (not far tho). I have a Fairy Princess cactus that pops off pups every so often- I let them stay where they fall, watch for roots then stick in dirt a little - they do grow but takes a little time . I hope this helps
