Please help!
I saw this dumped Brazilian wood. It has lost its bark, had a worm infestation and also has a bad smell.
Is there a way I can revive this or should I lose hope and dump it back?
Please help. #help #Brazilwood #whattodo

@SuperbRaspfern I just realized you may have been trying to revive this plant all along and maybe that plant is the Brazilian wood plant. Sorry that was a really embarrassing, stupid moment I had! If that's the case it may be too far gone and certainly do not bake it.
What I would try though that won't kill the plant like everything else would. Again sorry that was terrible advice before! ๐ข Is submerge it in a mix of 1!part peroxide + 3 parts water allow it to soak completely submerged for at least 20 minutes. That should kill of the bacteria in a safe way. It will bubble sizzle and pop that okay it's killing off the bacteria. It may sprout new growth after, maybe you can certainly try. But with the infestation it may have also caused too much damage. I would go into it thinking of it like an experiment to be very proud of if it works. If it fails, it fails. But diluted peroxide won't hurt you plant and will give you the best chance.
I would erase my previous comments because they are bad advice I thought it was just a piece of wood. But again I'm going to keep it so people know that I too have dumb moments.
Again, sorry for the bad advice! ๐๐

No, not salvageable. I'd suggest putting it near a pile of leaf litter or better, a forest or nature park. The wood is decomposing, hence the smell. It attracts decomposers like termites, worms and micro fauna, which boosts the food chain by offering food source for small animals like spiders, geckos etc, which in turn attracts more larger wildlife like birds or even the occasional snake
@Araceae oh! Okay.. Thank you.
@SuperbRaspfern Thank you for your response. Will this help revive it, or will it only prevent the smell?
You could also clean the surface with a brush and then sand it to smooth it out to make it more appealing to the eye.
If it is very discolored and your NOT using it for a plant or animal you can bleach in a very diluted bleach 1 part bleach + 9 parts water and soak it for 30 min to an hour. It does sometimes lighten the wood though.
After cleaning the surface if NOT using with plants or animals is to stain it or even varnish it. That will pull out the woods beautiful colors.

@SuperbRaspfern Hey! Thank you very much for your responses. I really appreciate your help. I'm trying the peroxide trick.
If it fails, at least I know I tried my best.

Exactly, you sound like me it is always worth a try!! Plus it is fun to try. I think the worms were the kind I see in my terrariums when I put wood in them. Were they teeny tiny ones? Keep me posted if it starts to sprout I really want to see it โค๏ธโค๏ธ.
If it works and sprouts and the wood get a bit smelly from always being in water just know if you use diluted peroxide and soak the bottom where it is submerged, it won't hurt your tree.
A mix of 1 part peroxide + 3 part water will help at any time. For the Foilage you would dilute it much more. But peroxide is your new best friend.

@SuperbRaspfern Yes, they were the small ones. I will update you if they start to sprout. โค๏ธ
