Check the underside of the leaves, pests love to hide under there. Other than that, could it be a caterpillar of any sort? Or perhaps a slug? (Check the leaves for residue- slugs leave a slime trail!)
Watch for Japanese beetles that looks like they've been munching on your leaves. Those buggers attack over 300 varieties of plants.

@Sassylimey I thought the same. Any ideas on how to keep them away?
@RootedSnowdrop I didn’t see any evidence of slime.
@SoigneBlackwood I've removed them but hand and crushed them with my foot, also taken and put them in a pail of soapy water.. They are a real nuisance.. Here's an article that may help
