My lemon tree has very droopy leaves. I’m reading that it...

Overwatering v underwatering is something I still struggle to wrap my head around. While I do not have a lemon tree I do have an oval kumquat tree. From what I have read there are varying recommendations for watering an indoor citrus tree, ranging from when the soil is dry 2-3 inches from the top to 5-6 inches from the top. From testing I find for my plant it likes to be watered when it has dried 6 inches from the top. When I water I make sure to give it a full watering and I remove any excess water so it doesn't sit in it.

I would suggest making your own measuring stick to gauge whether or not you need to water anytime soon.

Pictured is my measuring stick with dots to mark an inch. The second one is for reference on what it looks like when the soil is still moist. The dirt will stick to the stick and that's how you know to wait to water your plant.
@walnutash omg thank you so much! I will try that!! Great idea!
