How much to cut off? (Yucca Palm)
So due to (I think) being severely overwatered the ?branches? Of our yucca palm kind of broke at one point and are half hanging down now. I thought about cutting them off but I don't know how much is too much. Can anyone help?

@PlantySnacc good job cutting the stem to check for rot! I'm wondering if you have a way to cut off the top part that is rotted. I don't think it will be good for the plant to leave it with rot at the top.
But after you cut it, you'll need to put something over the top wound to protect it.
I am no expert, but I'm thinking something along the lines of candle wax to seal it off.
The stems you cut off could be propagated.

Iâm not at all familiar with a yucca. @KikiGoldblatt @Gordo can you help?
@Gordo Iâm not familiar with them either. @sarahsalith

Cut back in early spring. To prune, remove the plant gently from its pot and use a saw or sharp pair of loppers to cut the trunk in half. Repot the rooted end of the trunk, and water it well, continuing to care for the plant as you traditionally would.

@Shaubplantshack I have family that lives in Hershey PA. How far is that from you?
@KikiGoldblatt small world! Itâs just shy of an hour. âšïļ
@Shaubplantshack thatâs awesome. PA is such a beautiful place. I love visiting there. Yes it is a small world.
@KikiGoldblatt it is beautiful! Iâm smack dab in the middle between Philly and Lancaster in the heart of Amish country.
@Shaubplantshack my family up there is Amish.
@KikiGoldblatt thatâs pretty cool! I too have Amish relatives.
Sorry about your plant. It kinda looks like a ponytail palm. I think you could cut the floppy stems back pretty far- to the trunk if you want. As long as the trunk is healthy, it should grow again.
You could also strip the leaves off the sections that you cut and propagate them in water.
I would consider potting it in a pot with drainage. Palms don't like to be to wet.

@sarahsalith It looks fine further down tho! There it's still light brown
@PlantySnacc you're so good! Yes- make a clean cut under all the rotting parts and keep the wound clean until it dries well.
Please post follow-ups about your tree. (:
