Is this root rot?

I’m repotting my unknown succulent and I don’t know what root rot looks like. Is this it? #help #isthisrootrot
Hi Zuriel! Yes it looks like it. You can cut off the brown end until you see healthy plant. Let that air dry on a paper towel for a few days until I calluses over. Then you can plant it in a good draining soil and hope new roots grow. Root rot is brown/black in color, is squishy and really smelly….usually caused by overwatering, poor drainage and low oxygen. You can always google healthy roots vs root rot- there’s loads on info on the web. I hope this helps 🌸
Ok thank you!
Healthy roots will be firm and white/tan. Sometimes it's hard to tell if roots are rotten based on color alone since soil might be stuck to them. If you gently squeeze, pull, or try to handle rotten roots, they'll fall apart in clumps. Same goes for the stem at the bottom. If it's soft and mushy, that means the rot is spreading because the plant sat in wet soil too long.
