There could be due to an infection eg fungal infection but it cause also be a result of the lighting and watering conditions. These plants don't like too much direct light and prefer to a soak and dry watering schedule where they receive water and then their soil is allowed to dry. You can check when they next need a watering by checking the top inches of soil.

Looks like this might be scale! I would quarantine this plant if possible and spray and check your other plants if they have the same.
