Can Fern be outside directly in the sun?

It depends on the fern, but most prefer shade. If you want to keep it in the sun, it will probably require a lot of moisture to stay hydrated.
Usually ferns prefer indirect light( they mostly grow in shade) and a lot of humidity. If you want to put it into direct light I would gradually move it from an outdoor shaded spot to a more sunny spot. Something to keep in mind is that they are very thirsty plants and if they are in direct sunlight they will most likely need water every day if not twice a day. Hope this helps you out :)
