My cat won't stop eating my poor Spider Plant. I finally ...

Oh naughty kitty π±ππββ¬πΉ! Well spider plants are very resilient even when the get pretty beat up! π. Iβd gently trim off any brown and dried up leaves. Then make sure Layla has had a good soaking π¦ if she got dried out at all. It says 15 feet to light. Thatβs pretty far - remember light is food for plants. Without enough light they merely exist & eventually wither away. So see if thereβs a safe place closer to a bright spot, like 3 feet from the light source. No direct sun βοΈ while sheβs recovering, especially if sheβs not acclimated to any direct sunlight. And I wouldnβt add any fertilizer until after sheβs recovered π
Spider plants are save for cats but I have read they have a mildly hallucinogenic property, so it's a little like eating catnip for them! My cats kept eating mine so I moved it to a top bookshelf they can't get to. It's finally recovering. I think they'll always be tempted though. It's like a fun cat toy
When my mother-in-lawβs spider plant got damaged, it looked pretty similar to yours. But as long as thereβs still roots, then leaves will still grow! Give it a good, well-drained watering and then place it in a gallon sized ziploc bag for humidity. And then like other people in the comments have said, bright light will be GREAT for the lil guy, especially during this recovery time! It gets so humid inside the bag, I didnβt even need to water it much at all after the first time. It was completely bald at the beginning of the year, and this is the result after three months of the makeshift ICU chamber π
