Yellowing

I don’t know too much about plants but this plant and my Dragon Scale are both turning yellow. This one is in the correct pot I think and the other is in a random pot. Do I just need to water them less?
3ft to light, indirect
8” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
Yellow leaves generally mean too much water.
I looked up why do leaves turn yellow and it said not enough water so maybe it’s one or the other? I dunno much about plants but I hoped this helped
@PreferableTule Welcome to Greg! Can you please post a snapshot of the yellowing leaves so we can help diagnose? An image would help. Thanks!
@PreferableTule your plant looks overwatered and could use a bit more light. Please make sure your pot has drainage. When you water, remove the nursery liner from the decorative pot and let the water drain away. Right now, I would pull the plant out of the soil and check the roots for rot after you remove all soil from said roots. Trim away any brown of black mushy roots and spritz the ends with hydrogen peroxide. Throw away the soil and triple wash the liner and the white pot. Next, repot one fresh soil and do not water it. You can set the plant near a light source that isn’t too bright nor too dim to help it process energy and nutrients. You may lose a few leaves but the yellowing should stop and the plant should survive. Overwatering and under-lighting is the most common cause of yellowing. You may not have overwatered but if the water was never drained away from the roots at each watering, the roots will sit in water and rot. Make sure you only used distilled water or rain water so it has the best chances of survival. Water should be once per week and you should check the soil’s top three inches for moisture before watering. If it’s moist, don’t water. It’s okay to water a day or two after scheduled on the app. They serve as reminders so you won’t forget to care for that plant. Good luck!
