Yellowing Leaves?

This is a newer friend, brought home a few weeks ago and had some transplant yellowing; still in its nursery pot, seemingly new soil and getting some yellow leaves.

It’s in a room with constant ambient light, gets direct sun on the pot maybe an hour a day but never on the actual leaves. Only watered once (with fertilizer, wondering if that’s an issue?) since it’s been home; any tips on stopping the yellowing?

@FairBeakedrush Good morning β˜€οΈ First of all I love that your picture shows me what kind of light it gets, exactly how you described it πŸ˜„ Can you show me a photo zoomed in on the leaves in question? Are they browning and falling off or just yellowing? Are the yellowing leaves the older ones on the bottom, or all over the tree?

How’s the pot set up? You said it’s still in its plastic nursery pot inside that cache-pot? Does the cache-pot collect water runoff? I can’t quite tell. Does the soil seem to hold moisture?

How much did you water and how long ago precisely? Do you remember if the soil was wet or dry before you watered? If it was dry-do you know for how long? If it was wet did your dracena β€œhave its feet in a puddle” for long? What kind of fertilizer did you use?

I’m going to tag @princesspitstop too since she’s had them for years 🀍🌿
@FairBeakedrush Hi Bryce πŸ‘‹ Your Dragon Tree shouldn't be further than 3 feet from a window but like you said not direct light. Maybe a sheer curtain to filter some of the harsh light. They are also pretty drought tolerant so make sure that the soil is about 2/3 dry before watering. You can use a wooden chopstick to test the soil before you water. The yellowing tips might be due to it getting used to its new home as well as the type of water you are using. Use filtered or distilled water. Only fertilize it during the growing season which is spring and summer. So move it closer to the window and don't water until the majority of the soil is dry. It doesn't look bad at all just adjusting to its new environment.
@princesspitstop sounds great! I moved it closer to the window; lots of sun in Arizona but it’s behind some pretty heavy screens. (pictured)

Regarding watering it’s only been filtered water, watered only once since it’s been home, soil was about a 1/10 on the dry to wet scale (I use a moisture probe to verify) so seemingly dry but not sure how long prior to me getting the plant it had been since last watered. Fertilized at the time due to the Greg recommendation but will hold off on that for a while from here! I figured some transplant shock was due but just wanted to make sure as I’ve had another before that didn’t make it unfortunately)

And @DreamMachine thankyou for the tips as well! I don’t have an exact picture on hand (not home, yellowed/dead leaves were removed yesterday) but the leaves still held their red outline just yellow in the middle and some darker dots towards the tip of each leaf affected. The nursery pot is inside the cache-pot and the cache-pot has no drainage so it would collect the runoff if there was any.

Hard to say if it’s holding moisture but the soil was about bone dry at the last watering so I’d assume no and no wet feet. Will try the recommended change in light and reduce watering a bit!!

Thankyou guys!
