Why are leaves turning brown?

So basically from what I read the leaves turning brown cam be from a couple of issues, it being a tropical plant it needs high humidity and light exposure if humidity is too low the leaves turn brown. Secondly water quality can cause the leaves to brown, I suggest filling up a watering can with tap water and leaving it overnight to allow the chlorine to diffuse out the water.
