Spots on leaves. What is it and what should I do ?
5ft to light, indirect
5β pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
@KeyWinterheath Hello Keta, if you have checked thoroughly for pest on both sides of leaves & do not find anything, these spots may be Efnβs (extrafloral nectaries) produced by most philodendrons. Itβs a type of sugar-rich liquid produced by the plant. These Efns cause spots or holes. Which is perfectly normal & expected. The leaves that are slightly roughed up look as though that may have been damaged prior to your care. Your philo has two growth points & fills out that pot really well. It looks beautiful with new healthy growth. π
@Rockrlee thank you π₯° I will get a magnifier so I can check for pests. If I have them, what would you recommend ?
@KeyWinterheath it matters on the pest. However, the best is to make a water diluted solution of 1 Tbl spoon of Castile soap (peppermint, tea tree & 3% peroxide) to a Qt of water. Google the right amounts to water. You can mix in a spray bottle & drench the leaves. It will not harm your plant. I have used Captain Jacks Dead Bug for mites in combination with Bonides Mite X.
