Plant Mail + lighting question

#plantmail #plantsmakepeoplehappy Plant mail today!

Lepismium cruciformus - I guess I can join the ranks of the #cactusclique (is it a cactus, or a succulent?).

Tree Aeonium #treeaeonium....love the pictures of these and desperately want this to work...it arrived a little smooshed out of shape, but I suspect it will relax overnight or when it gets a drink.
#Sempervivum Jungle Fires. Hope I can keep this baby alive!

And lastly , #stringofwatermelons String of WATERMELONS - so cute!

For the SOW the lighting details say indirect sunlight, but the plant card says direct sunlight πŸ€”. What the heck is a plant parent to do? I've seen some of your pics where these are outside (and flowering even...Jennifer @Boymom-plantmom has one!), but lots of pics online where folks keep them inside. Based on the looks of the tips of the plant as shipped, it has had some sunlight recently (tips are lighter colored and slightly pink).

Best thing to do is try to keep it in similar conditions that it’s used to from the nursery it was at. If they had a shade cloth then you might want to give shade. If they had direct sunlight all day and it isn’t burnt then it’s acclimated to direct sun.
The plant will let you know. If it starts to burn then give more shade. It it appears to be reaching for light and not getting enough you can usually tell
I have learned overtime the plants will let you know when something is wrong or when they need water but you have to pay close attention and you have to have had them for at least a couple years before you really know that plant.
Congratulations on your new plantbabies, @UltraKoreanfir πŸŽ‰

@SirLiquorice gave pretty much the advice that I would have given. πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½

🌿 Get Growing! 🌿
@UltraKoreanfir now that you’ve joined the #CactusClique you might have noticed that all cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti.
@SirLiquorice Ah, yes...but alas, I got them from Amazon. I suppose it cannot hurt to try sending the seller an email and asking πŸ€”

Thanks, Dee @JustPlainDee
@Ms.Persnickety, Makes complete sense!
When grown OUTdoors, String of Watermelons seem to grow best with partial shade (because they naturally grow along the ground) but INdoors, they seem to need as much bright LIGHTing as possible, @UltraKoreanfir... not enough to burn them but enough to mimic part sun/part shade, ohkay?

🌿 Good Luck! 🌿
@UltraKoreanfir ahh then just watch them closely. Don’t give them too much sunlight maybe at first just to be safe. But hopefully the grower will provide feedback and have suggestions. But I couldn’t even give my plants too much light if I wanted to with most because I am in an apartment and they will get shade for more hours than they do direct sunlight. So depending on where you have them.
