What’s the problem with my plant?

I tried moving it into the sun, out of the sun and anything else you can imagine. I also tested temps and humidity and how much water I gave it. But still nothing was helping and my plant just kept dying.
10” pot with drainage

Hi! I’ve had this plant for about 6 months. This is my experience with her. I think I had a similar experience as you. When I first got her she looked like she could be in a magazine. She had long full iridescent stems. I put her in what I thought would be great location right by a north facing window that doesn’t get any direct sun. I kept her soil moist. The humidity about 60-70%. She started to look worse and worse over about 2 months οΏΌ- her leaves slowly turning yellow and dry. I tried giving her more sun. That was bad it seems she does not like any direct sun and does not even want bright indirect light. I saw a YouTube video about drenching this plant with epsom salt. I did it and it did not seem too help much. I almost threw her away. I tried putting her in my sink room that is dark and more humid. She seemed to like that and she seemed stabilize. I then met a shopkeeper at a plant store thst told me this plant likes to sit in water like a bog plant. I took this advice and this help revive my plant to where she is now. She looks geeen again, has new growth but the new growth is still quite short. I notice as the tendrils grow longer they seem to curl up and not unfurl as they were when I first got her. The tendrils are a bit kinky. I feel that even though i have her next to a humidifier now near a window but not getting any direct sun she still would like it to be more moist like if she was in a closed terrarium. I can’t decide if she wants the brightness or prefers it more dark. But I think the aerial roots thst grow as the tendrils unfurl want more moisture than I can give. But for sure putting her in pot with standing water is what saved her from completely withering away.
what ranges of temps and humidities did you test? What frequencies of watering did you test? It looks to me like it may be burning or dehydrated. It likes shady areas and indirect light. It should get no more than 3 hours of direct sun per day It also needs a lot of water, way more than once every 14 days like Greg says. It also needs very high humidity, probably over 70%. This may require a humidifier to maintain. It needs to be within 55 and 85 degrees, but it's happiest in 65-75. it will also be beneficial to have loose soil with good drainage and coco coir is recommended to add. don't fertilize more than 1ce a month because they're prone to fertilizer burn
try leaving it in those conditions for a week to allow it to recover before assessing whether the new conditions are working or not. You may honestly want to bring it inside though, it's not super temperature and humidity tolerant, and you can control those better indoors
@SesameSeeds777 I think it needs more water bc I have not been letting it get hot really at all. So I’m just going to try more water like the other @SFplantlover said
@fishbercurse οΏΌI just took a closer look at my plant. See in the photo Half the plant looks more soft and feathery while the other half looks slightly more yellow and crinkly. My feeling is that the leaves soft feathery side is getting more mist from the humidifier. And also I think the leaves are generally reaching for the window light. I haven’t been that consistent on the placement but I am going to pay more attention and see if I can make the plant really healthy again. This plant is literally sitting in 4 inches of standing water inside the pot constantly for the last 2-3 months and half the plant is still looking kind of dry.
i would give it a good water as i saw it was watered 2 months ago and see how it does after a few days
i would also recommend more direct sunlight but you will need to water it more too
Mine is doing the same thing.
@louisahart I actually don’t update the app enough, I water it quite a bit though
@SFplantlover He’s really looking good again thank you 🀩
@fishbercurse that is wonderful to hear! It makes me happy. Mine is doing better too. I have been more consistent about turning on the humidifier and keeping it going as much as possible. And she is fluffing up and more green than before. She still doesn’t have the full soft cascade look that she had when I got her but hopefully in another few months. Another things I realize is that her tendrils seem to perk up and try to face the indirect light of my window. So she does like soft indirect light.
@SFplantlover I’m glad to hear that your yours is doing better as well!! I hope it goes well with yours!
@fishbercurse oh okay perfect! that may also be a problem of overwatering? how often do you water
@louisahart I used to water it only a couple times a week, and that’s when it started looking a lot worse bc I was trying to see what it liked, but now I’ve been watering it at least once a day and it’s been doing a lot better.
@fishbercurse i would recommend actual only watering this once every 1-2 weeks as this plant likes to dry out, but if it’s working for you then that’s amazing!
