Hi Olivia, this may help.
Common Causes of Dying New Leaves
New leaves on plants can die for several reasons, primarily related to environmental stress or health issues. Understanding these causes can help in diagnosing and treating the problem effectively.
Pests
Insects: Pests like aphids, spider mites, and mealybugs can damage new growth by sucking sap, leading to wilting and death.
Signs: Look for tiny bugs, webbing, or sticky residue on the leaves.
Vascular Disease
Pathogens: Fungal and bacterial infections can clog the plant's vascular system, preventing water and nutrients from reaching new leaves.
Symptoms: Yellowing or wilting of new growth is common.
Root Damage
Overwatering: Excess water can suffocate roots, leading to rot and nutrient deficiencies.
Underwatering: Insufficient water can cause new leaves to dry out and die.
Transplant Shock: When a plant is moved, it may struggle to adapt to new soil and conditions, affecting its ability to support new growth.
Additional Factors
Environmental Stress
Temperature Fluctuations: Extreme heat or cold can stress plants, especially newly grown leaves.
Light Conditions: Insufficient or excessive light can lead to weak, dying leaves.
Care Practices
Watering Issues: Both overwatering and underwatering can lead to wilting and death of new leaves. It's essential to maintain a consistent watering schedule.
Soil Quality: Poor soil can limit root growth and nutrient uptake, affecting new leaves.
By addressing these factors, you can improve the health of your plants and help new leaves thrive
@MalagueΓ±a thank you, I have been treating for thrips the last little while
Its probably because of over watering or to much furtalizer
@MamaLiv012 I noticed on your plant card info that the plant is near your air conditioner. That could be what is causing the leaf drop, with it being summer and higher use of AC. Temperature drops can affect them. I hope you find out what the problem is. The plant is beautiful.
