Repotting
#PurplePitcherplant I think itβs time to repot my guy since he has a root growing several inches down into his water reservoir. What are the rules of thumb for repotting sarracenia? How much does pot size matter? I was thinking a shallow pot that would then have a high-ish perched water table would be good, but the only one I currently have is much, much bigger than his current little 3-inch. I have no idea what kind of substrate I even need. Help? Could he share a pot with pings?
2ft to light, indirect
3β pot with drainage

Hi! As mentioned already, a deep pot would be best. Theres no specific pot size to upgrade to. I normally just kinda grab a pot that looks bigger enough than what it was in previously lol. They're not too fussy.
I actually have a Sarracenia that has like over 5in of roots coming out of the bottom π Its still growing good. Im just waiting to repot it until its dormant.
For the substrate, a good choice is a 1:1 mix of peat moss & perlite. Make sure that there's no fertilizers *at all!!*. So, no miracle gro products as they always have fertilizers (says so on the bag). Do not use regular potting soil as it will have excess nutrients in it that can harm your Sarracenia. They come from nutrient poor environments :)
For your question about if it can or cannot be grown with pings, it depends. I am going to assume that you have tropical/Mexican pings as they tend to be the most common. If that is the case, then no. Tropical pinguicula like well drained soil and (from my knowledge) do not like water 24/7. Very, very different environment than a Sarracenia.
But, if you are talking about warm-temperate pings, then yes. Some examples of warm temperate pings are P. primuliflora, P. pumila, P. planifolia, P. caerula, and some others that im forgetting. These warm temperate pings grow in the same type of environments as Sarracenia, often actually alongside them. So, yes, for the warm temperate pings you can.
Hopefully this helped some! I am happy to answer any more questions or provide clarification on anything π
