When should we prune?
#MoneyTree Iβm looking and I see new large sprouted leaves, but some tightly wound leads in the middle. Should I cut these guys?

My Money Tree was doing the exact same thing! After a lot of research, I found that this is good! This is the prime growth season for Money Trees, so expect more of this. Growth also brings some leaf shedding so donβt freak out when that happens. Itβs reaching out in growth. It needs more sun if possible. Money Trees are very sensitive to stress. If you move it around too much itβll get stressed out and turn yellow and shed leaves. Put it in a direct sun area and leave it alone for a month, only move it to water it. Money Trees are supposed to be put in the SE areas of your home, especially in rooms related to finances. This brings the most luck. I donβt have a SE area of my home so mine is in the SW, and growing steadily. As for watering, donβt let it dry out 100%, that stunts growth, and is causing the curling of your lower leaves. Yellowing leaves means over watering, curling means under watering. Water it when the soil gets to about 50-75% dry (1-2 weeks). When you water it, put it in the sink or shower and allow water to sprinkle over the soil for about 5-10 mins until the nitrogen bubbles stop coming up in the soil. Then let it train for 15 mins in the sink and put it back. Donβt try to upsize its pot until the βtrunkβ has reached the new leaf stems and the leaves are all the same height. You can add a plait or two to the brain at this time. Only move up 1-2 sizes in pot size at a time. Donβt prune it, itβll shed on its own. This plant is meant to be fairly easy, water it and leave it alone in the sun. Your Money Tree looks good, just give it a good watering (soil looks very dry), some sun and time to adjust to the new changes. Good luck!
@Here_to_Gander thank you! I was overwatering because the leaves were yellowing but now I only water when soil is completely dry. Thatβs when I saw the larger leaves start to grow. But I can cut back even more on watering so it stops curling. The curled leaves are dry, some white some brown so, Iβll just let it sort itself out.
@KsTreehouse wow so much good information here, thank you! I was alittle overzealous when I first got it so it was all yellow. But now that I let it dry out it got that beautiful green color. Itβs interesting about not letting it get completely dry because every article that Iβve read say to only water once dry. BUT what youβre saying makes sense. Iβll move it over, I have indirect sunlight on my patio and zero sunlight in my home, which is why itβs outside. Iβll try to find a better spot for it so it can get the most sunlight. Iβm just stoked itβs doing this well! If only I could get my snake plant to come back like this one.
Awesome! So glad itβs doing better! Yea the articles go back and forth but Iβve had it for about 4 years and it does a lot better if I donβt let it dry 100%. If you canβt get better sunlight, just water less. I always touch the soil before watering any plant. Filtered or indirect light is fine and itβll start getting sunnier so thatβll help if it stays outside. Read up on pests for Money Trees, and make sure to account for that. Iβve never had mine outside so I donβt know about that. Hah! I had a snake plant for 2 years then one day it just started dying and I tried everything to save it but couldnβt so Iβve given up on that type of plant personally. They are beautiful though!
@KsTreehouse I had a snake plant for two weeks and then it died π€£π but Ive got it in water now instead of soil and Iβm seeing new green roots so, hopefully I can resurrect it. And so far no bugs on my money tree but I found tiny bugs on my Monstera which I donβt know how to get rid of.
