What’s this stuff on my golden torch cactus?
I got this cactus from my mom (she had it in a pot with another plant that needed much more frequent watering, she also can’t keep cacti and succulents alive but I can) and I’ve noticed it has this brown and black spots on it, what is it and how do I treat it?

@SerenePoisonivy Hi Ashley, I think that’s scale. I just recently noticed that a bunch of my outside cacti have some on them. . Would recommend you spray with insecticide soap and monitor it closely and continue to treat it accordingly.
@YammieOf3 I presume that even after being treated the spots will stay there, it just won’t spread any more?
@SerenePoisonivy once you spray it, you could use a soft toothbrush and lightly scrub it away, if it is scale it should go away.
