Moss pole first timer

#HappyPlants I'm using a moss pole on my #Syngonium #NeonRobusta . It is my first time doing it. No issues keeping it moist, but I feel like I might have held them too tight perhaps? I added a before pic too

Also accept any tips on positioning and anything else! The plant looks healthy and has been recently repotted due to its size - it’s almost 40cm high now. Pole added right after.

@Gustavo , you need to localise a node on the plant and then try and get that as close to the moss pole as possible, so the plant learns that there is something to climb ☺️

Zip ties are probably not the best choice of attachment, as they can not give space for the plant when it grows ☺️

I would use velcro strips or twine to attach the stems to the pole.

I would choose a few of the longer stems to attach and let the rest do their thing ☺️πŸͺ΄

You can always attach more stems as others grow up the pole 🌿

Good luck, it's a really beautiful plant you have there🀞πŸͺ΄
Forgot to mention the pole was inserted less than a month ago, so perhaps I just need to care for it and wait
How do you keep yours moist?
@Newplantguy This is a self watering pot (if you’re referring to the plant) and misting or literally letting water go down the pole (if you mean the moss)
@Gustavo yea sorry, I meant the moss pole. I have 1 in each of my pothos but I can’t seem to keep them moist without over watering my plants
@Newplantguy misting might be better but I’m finding they dry out faster than I expected. Either way if you mist it you won’t risk overwatering just more work lol
@Newplantguy you can buy these little attachments to bottles, they are drip feeders, and they drip water into the moss pole, or you can use a plastic cup with a little hole at the bottom or same thing with a regular bottle with a little hole punched in the lid, it will slowly saturate the moss pole ☺️
@Linx First, thank you so much for your time!
I did not understand a few things though. First, what do you mean by "node"? The part between leaves?
Secondly, should I leave most of the plant free and only keep close to the pole less parts? I got that impression.
Finally, I will buy Velcro stripes! Thanks! But these zips are adjustable so I guess not as bad! Thank you though πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
This is the nodes, and it's also the growth points ☺️

I would only choose the longest stems to tie up at first, and af the rest gets more nodes, you can attach those to the pole too ☺️🌿
This is a node ☺️🌿
@Linx thank you so much! ❀️ you were so helpful! I will give updates on how it goes! You’re the best!!
I'm excited to see how it goes πŸ₯³

Good luck 🌿🀞
Happy growing
@Linx @Gustavo thank you both so much! This is why I love this app so much! I’ve learned so much from all of you :)
You have inspired me to try a moss pole for my monstera! Thank you for this post. I was kinda afraid to try it.
@nellz4estfairyz I’m afraid too not gonna lie! I’m still learning and the plant hasn’t had time to get used to it yet (neither have I lol) but with research I’m sure it will be great!
