@GreatAnchistea Yvonne oh my goodness it is gorgeous! And exactly what I am looking for to put with my outdoor room zen area.. got to find one in my area now!! ππβ€οΈππ»
My advice is when you want to water your plant: DON'T. This plant is very susceptible to overwatering and it will die.
It wants direct sunlight and it wants a LITTLE water MAYBE once or twice a month... MAYBE. (:
That plant is in my #PlantGraveyard but I want to try again soon!

Thanks for the advice. Since it's actually going to stay indoors with a grow light I will test the soil with a moisture meter before watering and still give it a few more days

I have a few of these - theyβre fast growers and great statement plants!
Couple things to be aware of:
1. Get cactus soil. Home Depot usually planks them in the wrong soil. Personally I avoid miracle grow (all of their mixes have added coagulants which cause the soil to drain extra slow). Instead consider uni-gro or black gold. You should be able to find them at your local nursery.
2. Light - morning sun is great but avoid direct afternoon sunlight bc it will get stressed and burn easily.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your new plant!

I repotted both plants in my own succulent soil that I mix since they are both in the succulent family. I do 25% each of lava rock, perlite, course sand and cactus potting soil and into Terracotta pots. The roots in the palm we're shocking π³. Very deep and healthy. I didn't go up in size just deeper to get them out of the shallow nursery pots. So far everything seems fine. I did some research and will only water when the soil meter reads totally dry.
I appreciate the advice both plants are new to me

@GreatAnchistea youβre going to do great and that soil mix is ππ½ Maddys may seem delicate but are surprisingly hardy and the roots are no joke.
I repotted mine recently and was shocked by the giant carrot sized taproot it had. Not what I was expecting from something that started in a 4β pot a year earlier.
Btw their leaves are known to turn yellow and drop off. Thatβs normal, so donβt worry if that happens to yours.

Repotting was NO FUN! It took myself and my husband, metal tongs, a beach towel and 2 pairs of welding gloves and we both still walked away with some bad jabs. I am in no hurry to attempt that again π€£π

@GreatAnchistea oof - thatβs why I call them ouch plants! Also why I wear leather work gloves underneath cheap raptor gloves anytime Iβm handling anything large and pointy.
At least youβre done and can enjoy seeing your hard work pay off. Enjoy!
