Is it normal to have this white thing in there?

My Snake plant is looking healthy enough but I don’t like the white thing on the soil. Is this thing normal? I water rarely and when the soil is dry. I heard that this plant is very heavy duty so I don’t want to stress her. What’s happening in there? #SnakePlant #sansevieria
Can you try to take a crisper photo? Sometimes the fringes of my moss turn white and I think it’s safe to assume fungal growth when white stuff just pops up on your media.
Looks like some mold… fungus. Usually means the soil is too damp/plant is not getting enough sun to dry it out, and/or lack of air circulation. Let dry, scoop out the top layer of soil, sprinkle cinnamon (it’s a fungicide). The mold will come back if you don’t adjust the water/light/air. Hope this help, I’m sure a staffer will be along with an answer soon. This is my snake plant’s first pup from water propagation πŸŽ‰
The soil is staying wet for too long. When you water it take it out of the decorative pot for the day. Remove the white/mold off the top and add cinnamon. Snake plants can tolerate low light, but thrive in bright indirect light.
Could it be minerals from your tap water? Are you noticing the same things in your coffee maker and such?
