Help

I got this beautiful #algerianivy off Marketplace today. Some of her leaves are crunchy and others are browing at the edges.
Does she need more humidity than she was previously offered? Should I water more or less?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Hello πŸ‘‹ Elizabeth!

Here is what I found. These babies LOVE humidity. I do know if your leaves are turning brown and getting crispy it’s a sign that the air is too dry. You can booze the humidity by adding a pebble tray or a humidifier.

Browning leaves can happen from both over- and under-watering your ivy. Be sure to let the soil dry out 25-50% of the way down before watering your plant. In the winter, you can err on the dry side. Always be sure to test the soil before you water.

When you water, make sure you provide enough water so that liquid soaks into the soil and flows from the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot and into the saucer. It’s extremely important to discard any excess water in the saucer, to avoid root rot.

Humidity

Your ivy thrives in a humid environment! Browning leaves can be a sign that the humidity is too low. Boost the humidity in your home by adding a humidifier nearby, creating a pebble tray, or misting the plant often.

Lighting

Brown crispy leaves can be a sign your ivy is getting too much light. Ivy plants prefer indirect bright light from an east-facing window, or a few feet back from a south- or west-facing window. If placed in too much direct sunlight, your ivy leaves will burn.

LIGHT
Your Algerian Ivy prefers indirect bright light. It can maintain in lower light, but growth will be slow. Too much direct light will burn the foliage.

WATER
Water your Algerian Ivy when 50% of the soil volume is dry. Water thoroughly until you see water flow out of the drainage hole, and discard the excess water.

HUMIDITY
The Algerian Ivy prefers a humid environment but can tolerate average humidity. If the air in your home is dry use a pebble tray or place a humidifier nearby.

TEMPERATURE
Algerian Ivy plants can grow in temperatures between 50-80Β°F. Keep away from drafty areas or open vents.

FOOD
Feed your ivy once a month in the spring and summer with a general-purpose indoor plant fertilizer at half-strength. There’s no need to feed in the fall or winter when the plant goes into a natural resting period.
I would say to water more and see if that helps. I do not know much about Algerian Ivy’s, but I hope this helps!
