Who has used mayonnaise on their plants? Harmful or benef...

Please do not do that. Anything you add to a plant leaves to shine it will clog their pores.

Their pores are called stomata and they are essentially what helps your plant to breathe they open to get CO2 or carbon dioxide from the air and in turn releasing oxygen. They also have "guard cell" which continually open and close with changes in light and humidity. So to work properly and function well it's best not to put anything on your plant to make it shine. It's best to leave them be and never put anything on their leaves unless you are treating your plant for pests or infection.

I will also add that negatively impacting you plant like this does not only affect its capability to 'breathe' but it can also weaken your plant and make it susceptible to infection and pests.
Ok gotcha, my concerns were very much along the lines of what you just said. I appreciate that.
@dazzlingbranch You can do leaf care along with soil when you water the plant . Courtesy of @TheOddAsity .
