Goldfish (Nematanthus)

Hi all!

My goldfish plant has been certainly growing, but I’d love for her to be thriving! How can I get her to be less twiggy and have the arms reach up?

The leaves also curl (I have used a banana peel and water mixture and noticed that worked wonders, but then came the fungus gnats!). I’d also love to see flowers, but I’ve also only had her for 2 years.

Currently in a South facing window, watering when leaves loose density. Sometimes spray with water or bring to the bathroom with the shower on.
Light, Light, Light!! Mine love the hot sunny south facing windows. That is where they have nonstop blooming.

Also, grab some Super Thrive Foilage Pro it's an inexpensive water based fertilizer that does wonders. I recommend it to everyone.

The leaves curl down like that when thirsty. Mine get watered once a week. And start dropping leaves if the get too dry.

She's a very big girl, she may be root bound and need a bigger pot. When that happens they just can't get enough water to absorb. Due to the fact that there is no soil to hold the water. I would definitely check.
@SuperbRaspfern This is amazing advice! Thank you so so much☺️
@GreenBean3000 Your very welcome.
When it comes to manipulating plants and wanting them to grow in a certain form, the angle of the light matters. If you want to grow more up right, the light should be directly above it if possible this is how mainlining works. The light is above the plant you bend the branches over the plant grows towards the light so you can make it very wide and have a whole bunch of flowers.
and this particular activity or style of growing, you’re trying to create an even canopy. This doesn’t have to only apply to this type of plant in picture these LST clips are not needed after a couple of days of growing time. Can use coated garden wire, weight the branches or nothing at all & super crop the ends & they will grow towards the light no matter what. You can even grow a plant completely up upside down and it will turn 90° and go straight back up to the light. I hope this information helps grow in the direction you want to. long story short. A little light above the plant in the window left on a few hours b4 sunrise or after sun fall i think would change its attitude. As she said above check for rootbound bc that beauty is massive. Great job Growin so far 🤙🏽
