White powder??

Iโ€™ve started to noticed this white power like substance between these new leaves. Iโ€™ve recently cut off stems with root rot and re planted the rest with a mix of inorganics. Unsure if this is related?? Is it a bug??

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ™

Those could be mealy bugs. Did you see any round cotton balls or thicker areas of white stuff when inspecting the plant
@PureCosentinia Hi Christine, it is likely to be related to the root rot which suggests the plant may have been overwatered so it could be mold which often forms or another issue. You can probably fix it by spraying with neem oil (I use WeTheWild Protect Spray which has neem oil in it ) or diluted hydrogen peroxide (1 part to 4 parts water). Long term it may suggest you need to increase airflow to reduce the chances of it forming.

A white powdery coating on a yucca plant could be a fungal infection called powdery mildew, which can be caused by high humidity and poor ventilation.

Here are some other things to consider when caring for yucca plants:

Light
Yucca plants prefer bright, indirect light. Too little light can cause slow growth, while too much direct sunlight can cause white spots or brown tips.

Watering
Reduce overhead watering to help prevent the spread of spores to new leaves. Soggy roots can indicate overwatering.

Fallen leaves
Remove fallen leaves and destroy them instead of composting them, as the fungus may persist on the debris.

Pests
Pests like spider mites, scale insects, fungus gnats, and mealybugs can damage yucca plants.

Fungi
Fungal issues can be indicated by a halo around spots on the leaves. The fungi Cercospora, Cylindrosporium, and Coniothyrium can also affect yucca plants.

Thank you for this help! I have spayed with a neem oil pesticide mix now and will again in a week and hopefully that will help ๐Ÿคž
I havnt watered it in many weeks now and it has direct sun for a few hours of the day.
@PureCosentinia Hey, just a friendly heads up with neem oil in case you weren't aware: it is best to apply it in the early morning or late evening or times when the sun is not in the sky, or you could risk baking your plant, and neem oil can be harsh on a struggling plant already.
