Like a new mom all over again

This is Richard, aka Dick, named for my late father. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy
It was alone and totally neglected on the closed porch for nearly a year before I got through enough of the grief that I desperately want to save it, instead of just crying when I think about why it's in such bad shape to start. Like a TTC (trying to conceive) with a pregnancy test, I'm digging out the microscope looking for new growth and he's doing it ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ if I can save the whole tree no one can deny my witch powers anymore. If not, at least this branch might be able to be it's own ๐Ÿซ
15ft to light, indirect
20โ€ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
He'll be okay. those things are weeds in some countries. Also, if he's already flowered, a sharp decline in his health is normal. Many actually die after flowering
also, I don't know what a Japanese Pagoda Tree is... but this little guy is Mimosa Pudica aka the sensitive plant. Might help if you have the right species down
My experience with these guys was I got it while it was flowering (I didn't know they often die after) and now I'm struggling to keep it alive. A lot of fertilizer and water and light later, she has some new growth and lost all of her leaves except for this new growth. I know she's probably going to die anyway, but I'll fight trying to keep her alive.
@SesameSeeds777 so the (aka) Chinese scholar tree is defo not a Sensitive plant ๐Ÿฅฒ and is an actual tree, or at least trying his best ๐Ÿ˜ญ
no way thats not a sensitive plant ๐Ÿ˜ญ but when I look at it, new leaves do kinda look like sensitive plant leaves so I was clearly wrong, but that poor thing ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ
@SesameSeeds777 the REALLY crazy thing is I may have sprouted an actual Sensitive plant the same day I posted about the tree! The foliage is so similar I was wondering if I'd ended up with another Scholar tree ๐Ÿ˜‚
sensitive plants have leaves that move when you touch them. I am like 99% certain that scholar trees don't
but yeah. I know nothing about this tree.... sooooo good luck ๐Ÿ˜…
@SesameSeeds777 yeah no it's a steep learning curve BUT! I already know it's basically impervious to neglect ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ญ
