Why yellow leafs?
Hi everyone! So I got my medinilla a little more than one month ago. Now suddenly the lower leafs have turned yellow. What can be the problem? #medinilla #ShowyMedinilla
7ft to light, indirect
7β pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
Yellowing leaves on your Medinilla could be a sign of stress, and there are a few common reasons this might happen. Given that you've had the plant for a little over a month, it may be adjusting to its new environment. However, the more likely causes are either overwatering or inadequate lighting.
Medinilla plants are sensitive to excess moisture, and watering too frequently can lead to root rot, which often manifests as yellowing leaves, particularly on the lower parts of the plant. Itβs important to let the top layer of soil dry out before watering again, as you might be watering too frequently. Additionally, although you mention itβs 7 feet from indirect light, Medinilla thrives best in bright, indirect light. Being too far from a window could also stress the plant. Consider moving it closer to a brighter location to ensure it's getting enough light.

Is this too indirect sunlight? It gets some direct sunlight for about 1-2 hours standing there and then sun keeps shining in through window from early to late. I feel like Iβve might overwater it because the heat outside and leafs started to hang. Should I change soil? @Gustavo
