What’s happening with my lovely? I’ve had her for I guess...

4ft to light, indirect
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
@QuotableBonsai Hi! I think it could be a good idea to repot into a smaller pot. When pots are too large, the soil holds on to too much water that can cause root rot. Also, by repotting, you’ll have the chance to see how the roots of your plant are doing and to see if there is any root rot. If you do find mushy roots and/or smelly soil, you should rinse the soil from the roots, cut off the mushy ones, rinse roots with 3% hydrogen peroxide and repot into a container with drainage no larger than 2 inches wider than the root ball. Using fresh soil that is fast draining can also help. (Throw out the old soil if plant had root rot.) As for the leaves, I recommend cutting off the worst ones. No more than 1/3 of all the leaves. This will allow the plant to put that energy into root development and leaf development. It also wouldn’t hurt to give your plant a spray of Neem oil solution just in case it has any fungal issues.
If in a worst case scenario, the plant has no good roots left, you can always cut off the dead roots and re-root in water. ( I don’t mean to say that this will happen, it’s just so you know in case. ) Hope this helps! Lmk how it goes. πŸͺ΄πŸ’š
@SunnyPlants Thank You! I have some bonsai mix. I was thinking about mixing with spoil in hopes that this will not happen again. She’s so pretty I can’t wait to see her grow. οΏΌ
@QuotableBonsai This is a really pretty plant! Look forward to seeing it grow! 😊
@SunnyPlants She’s all repotted and there was nothing hanging with her roots. πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ It’s like she was frozen in time.
@QuotableBonsai I’m glad that all is well with her roots, so now the question is what’s causing those spots? A fungal issue? Maybe give her a spray with Neem oil.
