Does a false Christmas cactus need to be in direct sunlig...
Mine is right next to my east faced window (morning sun is less rough than afternoon sun I think). They normally bloom around thanksgiving if you’re in the northern hemisphere. I’m the southern hemisphere they bloom around June-July.
My false Christmas cactus seems to be happy where it is. As it’s summer in the southern hemisphere it’s not blooming but it is giving me new leaves. My gf’s is doing the same and it has very little direct sun facing a north-ish window.
So long story short they want a fair amount of sunlight, but I don’t think it needs to direct for their growth.

@AstroMind mine does great under synthetic light because it's pretty snowy and cold but I treated mine the same as yours and it got new leaves in the summer.
Hi Bob, a false Christmas cactus generally prefers bright indirect light. I've had mine close to a South West facing window with to much direct light and unintentionally given it a sunburn (leaves shriveled, drooped, and turned purple ish).
As for when it blooms that partly depends on temperature and amount of light. The reason it blooms around Thanksgiving/Christmas is because the days are shorter so there's less light and temps drop.
Hope this helps!
