New plant mom!

I got this succulent a few weeks ago (they said it is a Echeveria gibbiflora). Since then, he has lost several lower leaves (some squishy, others dried and shrunk into small crusts) and lost all of his pretty colors. I was trying to put him into indirect sunlight but since reading some I’ve put him in my direct sunlight window (6+ hours) He still doesn’t look like he is doing well. I’m not sure if it’s too much light, too much water (bottom watered about a week ago), or what I’m doing wrong! #help
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 6 months ago
Take it out of the pot I bet the roots are rotting take off whatever roots are rotted there are videos on it .. it can die if you don’t … be gentle .. a lot of those species are dormant in the winter temps fluctuate and then they cannot process water stop watering till late spring early summer I have heard to start watering when they start showing signs of new growth and it is small honestly plants around a 4-5 inch pot size are easier to keep alive they have a lot more roots much stronger and less fragile I don’t think small plants are beginner friendly in my opinion they will definitely kill plant self esteem haha if your just starting so don’t be to hard on yourself .. and remember your learning so if it dies just go buy another and try again we all do it when we first start even people who have plants for years make mistakes … under watering is easily fixable over watering is usually a game ender with ALL plants so always choose underwatering if you have any doubt .. it still looks like it will live if you stop watering it
@Charli3Plant thank you for the tips & grow light rec. I’ve been looking into them so I’ll check that one out!
@TryOcotillo77 thank you so much!! I will check out some videos and try that! Do you think I’d need to change the soil too? Or just clear off the rotted roots then replant in the same soil?
And I didn’t know that smaller plants can be more difficult but that def makes me feel a lot better!!
