Yellow along the bottom?

It's a slightly medium yellow along the bottom of my cactus, but he seems perfectly fine. I bought him like that, is that normal?

Pull it out of the pot with some gloves on, don't mess with the root ball, and just see if there's any rotten roots along the outside of the soil. Give it a sniff. If it smells like earth, you're fine, probably just corking. If it smells like sewage, or squishy around the base you have issues
