Hi Olga! It looks like your onion has split, and are now growing at the soil level. I had to look it up because ive not grown that type of onion- and hereβs the info for you. I hope it helps! Why Globe Onions Split: Erratic Weather: Sudden changes from cold to hot temperatures trigger the growing tip to divide early in the season. Uneven Watering: Alternating between completely dry soil and heavy soaking causes sudden bursts of growth that force the bulb to split apart. Deep Planting: Planting onion sets too deep pushes the expanding bulb to split sideways as it fights soil compression. How to Manage the Split Bulb- Harvest and Use Fresh: Pull this onion early and use it immediately for cooking. Avoid Long-Term Storage: Moisture and pests easily trap themselves inside the open folds between the stalks, which will cause the onion to rot quickly if you try to cure and store it for winter.
@YouthfulIvy12 youβre welcome, I hope it helps!
