Struggling alocasia
This alocasia used to be thriving but I neglected it for a loooong time & now I’m trying to bring it back to health. As you can see in the photo, the trunk in the center only has one dying leaf on it & no signs of new leaf growing at the top. If I were to cut that trunk in half, would it like, regrow? Sorry for not using correct plant terms, the database is running slow today 😅 #HappyPlants #AlocasiaAddicts
Hey, Melissa! That corm in the middle might still be saved :) if you chop off the top inch of it, it could reactivate old growth points lower on the corm and give you a new shoot! Alocasias typically reproduce by creating new corms in the root system, but I’ve seen plenty of people chop up big old ones that stop producing to get them to reactivate. Best of luck!
