Hey there! I recently moved my golden pothos to a new pot due to rot. I repotted it about a week and a half ago and since then it’s been very droopy and some leaves are starting to yellow. Should I water it more since it had been in wet soil for so long? What should I do? I have already propagated some of it just in case this one doesn’t make it. #HappyPlants #PlantCorner #PothosPack

@Succulent_Soul Since it had root rot already, I would say, let it dry out a little longer (closer to bone dry...)than normal, cause roots need time to recover.
That pot looks much too big, especially if you have recovering roots. It will stay damp too long. If you wish to repot, I would say no bigger than a 4” pot with very well draining soil (aroid soil or potting soil amended with orchid bark and perlite). It won’t ever grow leaves along the bottom again and will always look a bit leggy. I would downsize to probably a 4” pot max- but really, I think the best bet with this plant is to chop and propogate. You can chop between the nodes, and put everything in a clear shoebox with a layer of damp spagnum moss. Stick in a sunny spot and Wait for them to root. Then repot in a small nursery pot that’s only about 1-2” larger than the root ball of all them out together.

@Succulent_Soul I agree 💯 with Deb @MamaLinne . This pot is too big for your pothos. When you pot plants, it’s important to pick the pot size based off of how big the root ball is. For this plant, you only want about 1 inch of soil surrounding the current root ball. Sometimes I leave more space than that but ONLY for much bigger plants, or very vigorous growers. 🌿
Are you amending your potting mix by adding more chunky aeration ingredients? I say this because I’m seeing some signs already of your soil retaining too much water. That thin layer of whiteish crust on top of your soil indicates that it’s staying too moist. For any store bought potting mix, no matter how chunky it says it is 🙄, will always need more drainage and aeration added. You can do this by adding at least 50% more perlite, orchid bark, or coco husk chips to your mix. I’ll include a pic of my basic potting mix for you! A good tip to check if your soil is aerated enough is: take a small handful of your soil and get it slightly damp. Squeeze it and let go. Does it clump together? Then you need more chunky bits. You want to get your soil to the point where you can squeeze it and it does NOT clump together.
For right now, I really would recommend repotting down to a smaller size pot and adding 50% more chunky bits. At this point it looks like they are going to be more stressed out if they stay in that mix. If you are against that, then do not water this one until the soil has dried all almost completely, since they are looking overwatered. Here’s a pic of mine for reference! I only water mine when the soil is 90-95% dry. ☺️
