Should I be worried -monstera plant?

Have had this plant for a year. Moved closer to a light source a few months ago because I noticed the plant reaching for it.
I’ve noticed some small leaves yellow once every few weeks but not im noticing several wilting leaves. Is this an issue or normal?

You could absolutely propagate- they do very well. If it were me- I would take it out of the pot, and get as much soil away from the roots with my fingers or a chopstick- then wash away the rest so I could see the roots clearly. Once you get most of the soil off, you can manipulate them a bit so they’re more even in the pot. If you have roots that thick- that’s what I would do. I don’t know why- but I ha to repot one of mine a month after repotting because the roots just grew like crazy and were thick and popping out of the pot. But- if you prop- don’t repot or take it out of the pot for a few weeks so you don’t over stress the plant. As for soil- I but the cactus/succulent and citrus soil from Home Depit- but I but my Perlite on Amazon because I get the very large perlite….since I found that- my plants are doing so well. So my advice- if you prop- wait 2 weeks to check the roots and (maybe) repot. OR- if you repot- wait a week to prop and take only 1-2 pieces. It’s such a beautiful plant!
Hi Victoria- can you tell me what size and type of pot it’s in, and what kind of soil- also how long it’s been in that pot?
After enlarging that photo- the soil looks very dense and dry. The pot may be too small. I might suggest repotting to a larger pot- only go up 2-3 inches. Use a very well draining soil mix- 1 part Standard Indoor Potting Soil: For a basic nutrient base. 1 part Orchid Bark Fines: Creates vital air pockets and gives the thick roots texture to grip onto. 1 part Perlite or Pumice: Ensures fast drainage and permanent aeration. You might also put moss pole or bamboo stakes in to give it support as it is quite large. If the leaves that are yellowing are at the very bottom of the plant- that’s normal aging. I still suggest repotting, especially if it has been in that pot for a year or more. It is possibly root bound and the soil is out of nutrients.
This is mine
@SillyPlantGirl I repotted it several months ago and the pot was I think 1-2inches bigger.
I got an indoor pot mix from Home Depot and I thought it had all of those components you mentioned. Yes, the leaves that are wilting /yellowing are on the bottom.
Should I repot again?
Do you buy those 3 soil components and mix together?
I bit them separately and mix my own, but Home Depot does sell an Aroid soil - Rosy Organic Aroid Soil, and also Miragle Grow Indoor Potting Mix (I always buy a bag if Perlite to mix in). As far as repotting again- the best way to tell is to gently lift the plant out if the pot to see what the roots look like- if it’s rootbound- you’ll know right away. If it looks anything like my photo. I repotted mine 6 months ago and it started putting out yellow leaves- and that’s what its roots looked like.
@SillyPlantGirl so it would be be harmful if I repotted again even though it’s close to the last thing I did?
@SillyPlantGirl I tried to take the plant out of the pot, but it was very difficult and I was worried I was going to break some of the roots. I noticed on the side of the pot where the plant is the heaviest I could feel the roots about a finger thickness from the aligning of the pot. Where as the other side where there’s a lot of dirt I couldn’t really feel any roots. οΏΌ
@SillyPlantGirl I’m also wondering if it would help to cut some off and propagate
@SillyPlantGirl thank you!! This is helpful!! I think I’m going to do the root check, re-pot & after a little bit, try propagating some pieces
@SillyPlantGirl after I loosen up the roots, should I still get a 1-2in larger pot
See what the roots are like once you loosen them up. See if they will fit better back in same pot. If it looks too crowded, I’d go up 1-2 inches.
This is my mother plant on the right- and my props after 1 month of being in soil. I just had to repot them they are growing so fast.
@SillyPlantGirl do you fertilize regularly?
I don’t use fertilizer. When I want to give some nutrients- it’s use worm castings
