She's Starting to Yellow

Question

I've had this #airplant for only two days. She's been misted and properly dried. Sits on an East-facing windowsill. But I'm seeing that she looks less vibrant today, and more yellow at the tips. I have failed with these before, trying not to again.

Does she need less sun? Is this too much? What would you suggest?

Air plants need soaked about once a week, misting generally doesn’t give them enough water.

Do you have her in a dirt pot? If not you can ignore this. Air plants like living in an open-air environment with no dirt. I’ll add a picture of mine. The dirt could be giving it extra moisture that it does not need, causing it to yellow. I agree with Deb, soak it once a week or as you feel you have to during the year. If you don’t have her in dirt and have her in completely nothing, try to find the right place instead. Keep misting regularly (I even have a mist food/fertilizer). Anyway I’ll try to add a photo. EDIT: the “pot” is called an open terrarium.

I agree with Deb. They need soaked every 7 to 10 days for a few hours. I have mine one foot away from a SE window and they love that light.

@Alucen Hello- I have many air plants! I soak mine at least 30 min to an hour once a week. When you take them out of the water, set them upside down on a towel so all of the water will drain out of the plant. If you don’t do that, the water can rot the plants from the inside and you won’t even know it’s happening. Leave them on the towel until they are completely dry. I also fertilize them every other watering. You can get air plants fertilizer from Amazon and the air plant sellers on Etsy. Good Luck! 🪴🌺

@Alucen Also, if sat in bright input light, these guys will turn yellow, pink and orange! It means they are happy! 🪴🌺

@Alucen Air plants usually turn brown and the leaves get really thin then they are not healthy. It looks healthy to me! I do t have any blushing right now but I will keep an eye out for you!
