You could definitely clip some pieces off and start some babies growing but you decide to let it grow, the strands will not break. Succulents are beer durable.

@WarrantedMelon Mine got over 12" tall and had to be supported with a trellis up until recently. This past weekend I got sick of looking at it growing so wild, and I gave it a severe trim and re-pot. I think if you want to trim it, you will probably encourage it to be a bit bushier. It will get new growth.
