Breeding
Does anyone know how to breed anthurium?
Aight several things to note. Firstly, the flower structure. The inflorescence of anthuriums comprises of the spadix that carry the miniature flowers and a spathe which is the 'leaf' that surrounds the spadix. The female blooms mature first, evident as nectar dews on the spadix. After a while, dust-like pollen appears, evident that the male blooms are mature. The tricky part here is the get the pollen onto the female parts. So you'll need two blooms appearing a day or two apart. Pollen can store for several days in the freezer.
Once the bloom is pollinated, the spathe will due but not the spadix. It starts turning bumpy and brown. Afterwards, a several months later, little berries will appear. When majority of the spadix is covered with berries, harvest by using two fingers to slide across the 'infructescense". Wash the seeds collected of pulp, and pot the seeds into sphagnum in individual pots.
