Dieffenbachia

Hi I’m new to being a plant owner!! I just checked my leafs yesterday and on all my plants and didn’t see anything on my dumbcane but still sprayed neem oil on all of them anyways. Does neem oil happen to leave a white residue? Or could this be mealy worms. I’ve never dealt with anything but gnats. #PestControl #NewPlantMom #NeemOil #help #helpneeded

Neem oil does leave a slight white residue on the leaves, but it should not be too thick or overly noticeable. If you’re seeing a white, powdery residue, it could be something else, like mealybugs, which look like small, white cotton-like clusters on the plant. They are pests that commonly affect plants like Dieffenbachia. If you're unsure, gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth and see if the residue comes off. If it's mealybugs, you might notice small moving bugs or sticky honeydew. Neem oil is effective for treating pests like mealybugs, so continuing with regular applications should help if they are present.
@Gustavo okay thank you so much I was tryna find answers on the neem oil thing online and couldn’t find anything. I don’t think it’s mealy bugs cause they don’t look cottony but thought I’d ask anyways cause I’ve never come across them either appreciate it!!! 🌿
@Tauruss you’re welcome :)
